What is a Reservation
It is a concluded arrangement between the client and the accommodation provider representing a concluded booking transaction.
Provisional 
Provisional Booking -is a quotation that sends an automated emailed to the customer with an expiry time (turnaround time). It also has a payment link from the quote which will enable the customer to make payment.
Confirm 
This is an automated email sent to the customer confirming (guaranteeing) that the request for the reservation has been honored subject to the deposit received.
Confirm / Confirmed
The client has paid the required deposit (full amount), only awaiting the client's arrival. Then the reservation is confirmed on the system but NO email will be automatically sent.
This provides a level of protection for the accommodation provider because not only the client involved cannot cancel (or its terms changed, but the client will need to follow the cancellation policy provided ) this also serves as a guaranty for both parties involved.
Ghost
This is a quotation, but it does not block the dates on the system. Take note that one cannot book over another booking on the calendar…. but availability online (OTAs) will not be affected by a ghost booking.
Partial Check-in
In this instance this is a confirmed set to arrive on the same day, the guest is also able to do that online. This means that they can pay the remainder of their balance, update the details, the rest that will be left is for them to arrive in person and then they will be shown to the room.

This is a procedure by which formally accommodation provider (receptionist) register the arrival of a client for their stay.

Cancel booking
When the guest does not confirm
i.e. by not making the necessary deposit to hold the booking (provisional booking)
